Intersex Surgery: Clitoral Reduction

This kind of intersex surgery was develop way back in the 1980’s to reduce the size of the clitoris without the reduction in its function and sensation. The removal of lateral wedges of the erectile tissue is use to reduce the size and protrusion. The neurovasular tissues surrounding that area is carefully spared to preserve its function and sensation.

Due to increase in technologies, nerves stimulation and sensory responses are now performed during the surgery to confirm function of the sensory nerves.

Potential Problems

Some may still experience the lost of sexual sensations after surgery.
