Intersex Surgery: Phalloplasty

This surgery is to do any reconstruction of the penis itself, including those from injuries, deformities, or birth defects. The main difficulty experienced by surgeon is that of the erectile tissue which is not easily constructed. It also limits the surgeon’s ability to make more than minor size changes.

Potential Problems

Problems from minor revisions of the skin are rarely seen. For more complicated reconstruction, scarring and contracture may occur, in which can also distort the shape or curvature of the penis, or interfere with erection. Pain may also occur.

Other masculinizing intersex surgery:

Orchiopexy : Hypospadias : Urogenital Closure
Gonadectomy : Chordee release : Cloacal repair
Hysterectomy : Testicular Protheses
Penile augmentation surgery : Concealed penis
